Conveniently used Barney Franks

Barney Franks is being blamed for USA's financial crisis. I believe that he was duped into proposing rules which allowed commercial banks to create holding companies. Joke! He ordered banks to lend money to unworthy borrowers to buy homes outside their financial reach. He did this all by himself. In a pig's eye!!

I believe that at the time that he was to have done these magic tricks, the Congress had a strong "conservative" Republican majority which shortly thereafter allowed the cheney/bush team (that's right cheney/bush, not bush/cheney) to ramrod laws through Congress without missing a beat. And that continued for the following six years, nonstop.

Barney was a convenience and Republicans took full advantage of him. If the Republicans did not like his "rules" they could have squashed him like a bug on a concrete floor, (not on a rug, because the rug might be too soft and the bug could survive).

This is the same Congress who under the leadership of the big "newt", passed a balanced-budget amendment during the Clinton Administration which bashed Clinton's spending plans in favor of a balanced budget. After all, the Reps did not want Clinton to spend all the money, they wanted to save some to spend during the "fiscally conservative cheney/bush years". They were "fiscally conservative", were they not? I like that phrase - "fiscally conservative". To tell you the truth, I don't think the boys could spell the phrase. Then again, they probably could spell it, they just did not know its meaning.

A rhetorical question please, what happened to balanced budgets during the cheney/bush years? The balanced-budget amendment paper on which it was written was used as toilet paper to cut costs during the those "fiscally conservative" years. "Ain't that the truth?" "Ain't that the truth?"

Six trillion dollars of deficits later, and now the "conservative" wing is saying that the debt is being passed on to our children and grandchildren. Where were the douche-bags then? Why did they not squawk then? The c/b team could do no wrong, because they were under a mandate of "Divine Guidance". Remember? All the preachers kept praying for the cheney/bush team. And the band played on!!

Actually, the appropriate term is to "defer" taxes to later years when we can afford the debt. That's why Republicans cut taxes and defer their debts to later years.

Wait, who is going to pay the debts then, oh, the other guys' children and grandchildren. By the way, have you noticed that Republicans "never increase taxes", they increase various fees - like telephone line fees. Only Democrats have the guts to increase taxes and pay-as-you-go." Republicans defer taxes to be paid by the other guys' progeny. This is true on all government levels - federal, state and local. That's enough salt on my bleeding wounds for today.
